baby bear
My friend asked me to make a softie for her sister-in-law who is expecting her first baby. She brought me a dark purple shirt that has special meaning for their family and wanted me to use it somehow. We decided on a bear so it would be gender neutral as the new mom doesn't know the sex of the baby. But I just couldn't do it. I kept seeing that purple fabric as a dress with a crisp white collar.
So here she is all dressed up for the baby shower:
Since Baby was so much help for me here, I've been calling her Baby Bear. The only thing I am slightly unhappy with is the way her arms open towards her back when she's held my her body. We'll just say she's looking for a big bear hug.

I absolutely love this lovie and it will be so hard to give it away! What Alicia did not mention was the shirt belonged to my mother in law who passed away a year ago. She wore this shirt all the time and now it has a new life! The back of the dress is so cute too. I cannot imagine anything more warming than the outstretched arms of a grandma that never got to meet her grandchild on earth but will hold this baby in her heart forever. This will be sure to warm my sister in laws heart and the baby's as well. Thank you for everything you did. It was better than I ever dreamed-only you could have pulled it off!!!
