visions of sugarplums
I saw this in a Mary Engelbright book years ago, although I can't remember which one. Fast and sweet. Of course there's no way to use the whole bag of gumdrops, so there's plenty of extras to taste test. But be sure to keep them up high; they are very appealing to small dogs and humans.
P.S. Thank you so much for all of the sweet comments yesterday. I will make sure my mom sees every one.

One Christmas Eve when I was about 6 we returned from church to find the dog had knocked over the Christmas tree to eat some gingerbread men that were decorating it. I think he ate the tinsel too.

darwin keeps taking off our candy canes and walking around the house saying, "candy bars? candy canes? candy bars? candy canes?" and if you don't get to him soon enough, he starts eating them *with* the plastic.

Cute idea! I had to chuckle at the "small dogs and humans" part. This is why we don't have candy canes on our tree.

Very sweet. I'm pretty sure our golden retriever would knock over the tree trying to eat those little sweet treats.

small dogs and humans! yeah - i would have a hard time walking past that tree without pilfering a few myself.

So cute! Yes, those would have to stay at the top of the tree around here (along with all the other ornaments, at this point).

I love the ME tree! I did it a couple years ago and it's probably one of my most favorite Christmas trees! Thanks for the memory! :)
