february first
February is difficult. The bustle of the holidays is over, the birthdays have passed, and the cold and gray seem to seep into my bones. I know I have a hard time every February too, so the anticipation makes it even worse. I try to stay optimistic, but I can already feel the funk creeping in. I was going to take the month off from this site and Brian talked me out of it. (wow.) He thinks maybe it isn't smart to stop doing something that helps keep me busy right at a time that I'm feeling so uninspired, right when I might need it most. He's right.
Instead I am going to try to post every day this month. Many days may just be a photo, because you see, it's February and I'm in a funk and there's not so much going on. Oh, right. I already said that. At any rate, you'll be hearing and seeing a lot from me.

Thank you, Brian! And I look forward to seeing a lot more of you - here and there. ;)

now, see. february is one of my busiest months.
first we have valentine's day, then griffin's birthday and then aaron's birthday. plus it's when we do the most garden planning because come the first weekend in march we are outside cleaning up.
it's like the sprint to the finish line.

oh I have to agree with you. February can be pretty darn grim--about the only thing good that can be said about it is, it's short!
But glad you'll be around this month, that will cheer things up! :)

That is why so many babies are born in November.

I'm excited to hear and see a lot from you! I agree with Brian ... I don't know what to do now that I'm not blogging and am without my camera.
I know what you mean about February. My birthday is this month, and I can usually hold out until then, but after that, it's winter doldrums. Plus, everyone is usually broke in February, so my birthday tends to be kind of anticlimactic. :(
By the end of this month, I'm totally OVER it. Although, with JJ's birthday being March 12, we have a new thing to look forward to; since this'll be the first year, I don't know what it'll be like!

You might enjoy throwing a Burns Party, in honor of the Bard of Scotland, Robert Burns. It's a great Scottish ritual - we've attended some - where the meal is haggis (sheep's liver, although we had quorum, which is a tofu-type thing in lieu... made it look like haggis) and the haggis is presented very solemnly, which much pomp and circumstance, and Burns' Ode to Haggis is read, as are many of his poems. And.. MUCH WHISKY IS ENJOYED!!
Look it up online... it's the kind of party I can see y'all having, knowing you as I do (does that come out poorly? not intended to!)
Anyway, it's a Feb. thing that just might take the Funk out of the Month.

Yes, I don't think February would be a good month for a month-long break. I was off two weeks and felt a lack of focus in my days -- blogging has some weird stabilizing power... I'm glad we'll be seeing you every day!

One of these days you need to come to Austin in February. I'm always bragging that February is the only good thing about Texas weather -- when everyone else is funking in the deep freeze we are (supposed to be) in the 60s with the wildflowers popping out already. OK then, come on weather - you heard me bragging -- then do it!
OK - I'll post everyday in February with you (anti funk pictures/posts) if you post everyday in March with me (30 Day Photo challenge - DPBlogs) Whattaya say?

I feel the same way about February. But I do always look forward to that one really nice day that always seems to happen in February. It's a gentle reminder that spring is coming.

You should come down to Louisiana one February so that you can experience Mardi Gras - that will definitely kick you out of a funk!
I look forward to seeing your posts everyday.

Ha!-- Just read Soule Mama's post too and had been thinking the exact same thing this morning when I woke up. February is the time for a little funk around here, always, but nice work deciding to post & challenge yourself. I'll take inspiration from that and I'll love to see your photos! Have you seen 3191 (http://3191.visualblogging.com/) yet? I love those daily pics!

Glad to hear your not leaving us. I will look forward to your pictures. For me January and March are my "funk" months. However, February is a favourite month, full of birthdays. Mine, my sisters and several friends. But March...Ugh! Sending you good cheer vibes for a funk free month :)
