red and [maybe] purple
The last of the tulips.
I have been patiently awaiting the lilac blooms. They had just started to open, when it dipped to near 30ยบ F last night. It may drop into the 20's all this week, so in a fit of panic this morning I cut big bunches of them and put them in water. Do you think they'll bloom inside even if the frost nipped at them? Come on, sad little fellas, I'm rooting for you.
Gimme a L.... gimme an I... gimme a L...

L-A-C!
I am thinking that they just might pull through...nature is amazing. And we are freezing our bumms here in WI while watching the snow come down. Ugh!

Frosty here too and maybe snow on Saturday. I love lilacs too, I'm hoping you'll be posting beautiful blooms in a few days.

I know, I was so sad driving to work today because I saw all of these beautiful tulips bent almost to the ground because of the freeze last night. Dang Kansas weather!

Ooh, I didn't think of trying to get them to bloom inside! Maybe I should run out and cut some...

Oh I do hope they survive. Lilacs are one of my favourite flowers/bush! Heavenly scent!

Come on, little lilacs! I hope they open soon. We had some huge lilacs back behind our house when I was a kid, and I loved them. (It helped that some neighborhood boys cut the inside of the bushes out to make a clubhouse. My dad chased them away, but the center room and the hallways were still passable for years. Thanks, boys! ;) )

I went out and cut down half my lilac bush last night in anticipation.... hauled great armfuls of blooms in to school today. The looks on the teacher's faces were a mixture of "Oh, how wonderful" and "where the heck are we gonna put those?"

I don't know much about growing lilacs. Although, lilacs are one of my most favorite flowers. I hope they survive.
(I can't believe yours are starting to bloom. I'm trying to look out the window to see if my neighbor's are growing yet, but our smokehouse is in the way...)

i am rooting for your lilacs. they are among my favorites - the scent cannot be beat! did you smash the bottom of the stems so they'll take water?

They don't look frosted, but I've never tried forcing them before. Keeping fingers crossed for your beauties.
