what frugal girls do

An old thrifted dress that felt a little too short and a little too dated becomes a preppy, tunic-y top. I opened the side seams and shortened it about 4 inches. It's much better now.
(We like to call ourselves frugal, not cheap.)

restyled dress1.JPG

I was trying to avoid the awkward standing against the wall head-cut-off self portrait, and in the process mastered the dorky holding the camera in the (dirty) mirror shot. The trouble I was having getting a good photo caused the sour expression. More restyled clothes are in the works. A skirt is fixin' to become a smocky thing. If I can figure it out.

Have a great Tuesday!

did you ever watch the frugal gourmet when we were kids? it was on pbs. i loved how he made extravagant food with four dollars.

and dear, i have never seen you so grumpy in my life. i almost didn't recognize you!

Even if you have a grumpy look (which I don't think looks all that grumpy), you sure do look cute! What a clever idea.

great idea alicia! it is very cute. that self-portrait in the mirror thing is very hard, huh?

Love it and the sour puss!

super cute!!

frugal AND clever.
You look great, even with the "sour" face. :)

Hi Alicia!! All my favorite bloggers are coming out from behind the camera today. :)
I LOVE that top! Very cool plaid, and the way you opened up the side seams is great. Looks so good on you!

this frugal girl wants to buy a lot of clothes this year. a lot. it's usually when i don't have any $, the desire burns all the stronger :) so cute, a.

I think "cool" is the better term to be inserted here. It's unique, and one of a kind. The tunic suits you well, as does that fancy camera. :)

too cute

Cute outfit. Frugal is fun. The expression on face is so cute. I interpret it as intense. I like the tunic with jeans. Great for muraling work as well.

Wow...I really like the camera..I can't say much about the dress or whatever you call it. A unique way to take a picture of yourself. Remember to smile next time.. "Love you"...Dad

Looks great! Wanna come to my house and fix some of my clothes? Come on, you know you wanna. :)

It looks lovely Alicia. Your self portrait turned out great too. BTW... Frugal is Tres Chic!

You and your top too cute! Great idea! I wouldn't say cheap or frugal---I would say SMART and CLEVER!
