hello, crane

My crane arrived. We're beginning to get acquainted.

hellocrane.JPG

Things seem to be dry on the creative front these days. The summer has thrown off my rhythm, perhaps for the better. Maybe I'm rejuvenating. Every time I find myself with a few free minutes, I'm much more attracted to the romance of summer activities like bike rides, the swimming pool, or dinner and drinks on the patio.

Also, I've slowly been attempting to take the focus off of my kids here in this space. I still want to include them; they are such a big part of who I am and why I create. But for safety sake I'm trying to be more discrete with photographs of them. So that limits my subject matter a little more.

These two reasons are why things seems a little thin lately here. Please forgive me and thank you so much for sticking around.

Hugs to you all,
Alicia

What a beautiful crane - I am waiting patiently, patiently for mine.

I think it's good to have a quiet season creatively. Gives things room to seed and grow.

Beautiful photos, Alicia.

I've been pondering the safety thing too. I feel OK about things with us living where we are now but I may have to reconsider the way I post when we return to OZ...

i have done the same thing. thinned my kiddos out of the blog. they make their occasional appearances. i'm glad i'm not the only one who is finding thin posting material because of this. i mean come on...swimming is way more fun!

I am re-thinking the kid thing, too. I just don't know what to do, how to find the happy medium. I know you get what I mean.

Speaking as one who frequently disappears for weeks at a time to swim and frolic and sometimes flail in the sea of LIFE...it's okay. (I sounds like a big shot, don't I? When in reality I can often fret and stress as yet another day passes without a post...) Enjoy the summer, and when you're ready to come back we'll all be excited to hear what you've been up to!

xoxo

I'm sure there's creativity just not so much crafting. I hope you're enjoying the lull.

Perfectly understandable - all.

And your photos are creative (Duh) so no apologies there. Geesh - we all give ourselves such a hard time, don't we?

my crane arrived, too. something i've been anticipating for so long that i suddenly don't know what to do with her! i love the idea of getting acquainted. i think we'll try that.

and, though it's such a difficult thing, i'm encouraged to know that there are others out there struggling with how much of the kids to include in the blog (for the sake of safety) and how that impacts the "life" of the blog itself. something very much on my mind.

I had a total freak out about this in february. then I didn't do anything different, really. Except I notice that four or five posts will go by that don't show pictures of my kids, which I think is good. And then I want to show them again for something. Since I am so secretive about our location and real names, I think I am OK with the balance I've struck ... but it's still so hard.

I had not heard of this crane project. what am I, in a cave or something? I used to make them ALL THE TIME as a kid, and even made jewelry with them. I sprayed them with acrylic and everything, lol.

isn't living with kids the ultimate creative endeavour?! and summers meant for things like this. and photos like these. gorgeous. xo

Yeah, summer stuff is taking over lots of the crafting time here, too. But that's OK -- summer is fun!

great shots!

Ah Alicia. This kid/blog thing is a tough one. Summer relaxing is good though. Ya know I'll stick around. I always enjoy checking in with you! :)

It's so sad that we have to worry about putting our children on our blogs, but I guess it's a reality. I hope you come to some kind of happy-medium!

Enjoy the rest of your summer, biking, swimming and patio dining. That's what summer is all about.

the picture looks beautiful, i'm glad you're giving time to get to know your crane (who's made with my very favorite paper by the way).

to the ladies who posted comments and who are waiting patiently, i really appreciate it.

have a good weekend!

i think breaks are as important as creative time. enjoy the summer!
{now i am worried, because i show my little one often in my blog, did something happen that made you re-think things?}
