a windy day and the shop update update
Hello there! I hope you're having a smooth start to the new week. It's beautiful again here today but super windy. I'm hoping the strong breeze will sweep away the elm leaves and save us from the job. It makes me think of Amy's lovely post from this time last year.
I'm moving the shop update by just one day. Tuesday is Brian's birthday, and I want to spend a nice, quiet evening with him. Plus Wednesdays are not good for spending much time at the computer, so THURSDAY, November 8th it is. I'll shoot for 11 am (cst).
I also wanted to explain my plans for the baby dolls that I'll feature this time. Part of the fun of these girls is that they can resemble the child for whom they're intended. Therefore, I'm going to do them on a custom order basis. I'll commit to a limited number (a VERY limited number- they take a lot of time!) and if you're interested, you'll prepay and specify skin tone, hair type and color, and eye color. Then I'll make each to order and ship them by Saturday, December 1st. That way, they'll arrive in plenty of time for the holidays!
There will also be some other items including a few new Simple Birds this time around. See you back here on Thursday?! Remember to BUY HANDMADE for the holidays.

We bagged four bags of leaves this weekend, got the yard looking beautiful...and today it is a sea of yellow. Oh well.
The dolls are going to be so cute!

these are so sweet! they will make lots of kids and adults happy for the holidays I am sure. I have a little girl who is two and every year for her birthday and christmas so many family members and friends tell me that they shop and they shop and they can not find that special rag doll they are looking for. I always tell them to try etsy. There is just nothing else that can compare and i am so glad we have a resource like this now. I don't shop in those big chains stores anymore. I think handmade gifts and local shops are going to be the "thing" even more than they are now.
thanks for sharing, I just love these dolls!

The dolls are fantastic--especially the hair! What material do you use for the face?

Oh, your baby dolls are so sweet. I love them. I think I should've started sooner on mine. They are so time consuming! But I'll finish on time. I vow that I will!

does "making" homemade for the Holidays count?? Cause I have a list of projects, a few done and many late nights from now til Christmas full of crafting and hot cocoa... mmmmm, maybe we could switch it to "HANDMADE FOR THE HOLIDAYS!!!"

Alicia,
What a fabulous doll! I love that the hair is cloth and not yarn. Yarn hair can get gross after lots of love. I am your neighbor as we live in Kansas City too, near Indep. and Raytown. I found your block through a series of links from sew-mama-sew.
