ice day

It's ice storming here. Our temps have been hovering just above 32º F, so for us it's been mostly rain. Some of our neighbors to the north have not been as lucky. Stay home, local friends. Feels like a good day to "call in tired" to me.

ice

I had a bad day yesterday filled with nasty things like multiple furnace repair men, a cut knuckle and several band-aids, a demanding toddler, a mechanic who utters the forbidden T word about my dead station wagon. Sigh.

BUT school has been canceled today. We're all still in our jammies, except for poor daddy- be careful, Brian. We love you- and we've made plans to paint gift tags and bake gingerbread. And sit at the window to listen for the smoosh of big chunks of slushy ice falling and not the much scarier crack of tree limbs. (knock, knock, knock on this pressed wood substance that is the top of my desk.) Today may just redeem yesterday.

Stay safe and warm. Please.

Comments

i just wanted to say hey. i never realized where you were located until i saw this entry (i have been lurking for awhile) because our trees look just the same. we live right by the stadiums...although today we have been relocated to raytown due to the power outage. niiice. anyway, stay warm!

Brrr!!! Those trees look mighty cold!

the ice has been kicking our butts here! we had 3 inches of rain and freezing rain last night!

Yuck for yesterday. I hope today is better and the iciness just makes your world sparkle-y.

oooh that looks so cold! hope you have a better day today, and keep warm. the gingerbread baking sounds lovely.

It's been icy on this side of the state for going on 5 days now. Thankfully today it is warming and melting. I am tired of sleepless nights listening to the trees.

OOO
I dream icicles like this..
it is almost 70 here
the leaves smell nice all over
and the firewood is waiting, waiting to be light.

stay safe and warm (and here's hoping that the furnace repair men are gone - we had to replace ours recently. ugh.)

Alicia, I love this post because I feel like we could be having a phone conversation about our day. Today for you sounds much nicer than yesterday. Funny, I'm making gift tags today too! I can smell your yummy gingerbread already...

I dislike the T word a lot... hope everything works out there. Weather is not as bad as some make it out to be(we did not get hit as bad as OK), but we should all be careful on the roadway for sure.

hope you are warm and safe!

i am sorry about yesterday. hopefully today does make up. a pajama day sounds wonderful, though.
little ole' is on her way! hopefully tomorrow or the day after it will be with you.

Those ice storms are very nasty and they are best experienced from inside a warm and cozy house. I hope this is your experience. Oh, that pictures is beautiful!

gingerbread and the sounds of slushy ice sound pretty darn good. hope your day today was better than yesterday. lovely photo. xo

Ah, you make snow days sound so much lovelier than I experienced today!! I'm glad today was better for you. Yet, I'm hoping tomorrow will bring even better things for us both.

So sorry I never emailed you back. I have some icky stuff going on here, too. (Namely a stomach bug for me. A broken leg(!) for J.)

Anyway, hang in there, sweet friend. xoxo
