stuff I want(ed)

I made this cuff

cuff

When I saw Hannah's leather bracelet in this photo, I wanted one. I figured I could make one, but the end of the summer was just too full for frivolous accessory making. So this morning I headed to the thrift store for a couple of nicely worn leather belts and to Hobby Lobby for a snap kit (hello, 40% off coupon) and lickity-split I've got a leather cuff factory going on over here.

So it turns out a waist is much bigger than a wrist. Do you want one too? If you leave me a comment on this post, I'll pick a name on Wednesday (8/25) and send you one. I'll even make it custom for your wrist size. OK? OK.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

(photo c.o. Heather Smith Jones)

The other thing I want is my friend Heather Smith Jones's book. Have you pre-ordered your copy? I have. This woman has been pouring her heart into this project for a year, and I'm guessing it will be nothing short of amazing, especially since my other friend Rachel Saldana took all the photos. I. cannot. wait.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

I feel a storm of making stuff rumbling around now that I've actually got a few minutes of quiet time to think. I hope it pans out, because it is long overdue.

What a great idea - I love the whole cuff thing and in leather to boot!

And yes, on the making storm outlook - me too, me too.

Oh my goodness, I would love this! So cute! And how clever of you to think of using a thrifted belt!

Wow! What a great idea! I'd love one!

Oh goodness! I would love one of those. I'm woefully underaccessorized. So very cute!

I'm thinking one in thick pure wool felt would be gorgeous too.

That cuff is extremely cool and so very smart. Is there anything you can't make? :) I think you should make lots and lots of them, to your hearts content.

I love the bracelet! Totally want one.

awesome!

That bracelet is beautiful. Very creative. Thanks for the chance.

Yes please! Cute! Actually I have a too small belt that would be great for that. Just need a snap kit I guess.

Clever, clever girl. The cuff is lovely...going to have to try this. How long did it take to make just the one? And, as another asked, how did you cut the belt?

So very brilliant. Love it so much!!!

Lovely and so clever of you.

gosh that is brilliant.
I love it.
I have been staring at the photo for days.

I had a leather bracelet, that my Bff and I bought matching ones on the way to summer camp in 7th grade, I wore that thing every day till the latch broke, years I tell you. I think it just may be time for another leather cuff bracelet.

OMG, yes please! Thanks!!!

I want! I need!

Ooh, I would love me an awesome wrist cuff!

Wow that is really cute.

I've wanted to do this forever....
please make one for me:)

What a clever and pretty cuff! Count me in -- a bracelet that M can't yank off my wrist and break into a million pieces!

I want one! Please let us know how you made it, that way if I don't win one then I can make one! Never worked with leather before. Just realized the belt I am wearing would make a wonderful cuff. Should I sacrifice it to the crafting gods?

You're so smart... the cuff is adorable!

awesome! very cool, indeed.

wow, i love that bracelet. i'd love to be chosen to get it's twin ;)

How lovely - might send it to my nephew in NZ if I win

Oh gosh how I love this! It turned out beautifully. A while back there was a set of black ones I saw in a thrift shop, I always wished I had picked them up (of course they were gone when I returned). But I like yours much better.

oh my! I saw the photo over on flickr and was in love... brilliant. I would love one.
:)

This is a great idea! Why didn't I think of it? :)

you are so smart, using a belt! and yes, i'll be buying the book. how could i not? it's going to be amazing.

What a brilliant idea. I love it!

Yes, I want one! Count me in. And if I don't win, I'm totally stealing your idea and making some of my own. I hear you on the storm as well. There just aren't enough hours in the day. Wonderbaby doesn't like making nearly as much as I do. :) So happy to see you back. xo

Love the cuff idea! And of course I would love to wear one. Sign me up.

you are one smart cookie. where would we be without thrift stores and hobby lobby?

Nice job on the cuff! It's super cool! Thanks so for the offer...I totally want one! (crossing my finges here!)

Awesome cuff! Count me in! How about a tutorial for the "not so lucky"?!

Ooh, I love the cuff! I've looked at those on etsy before but never made a purchase. If I don't win this one, I think a trip to Hobby Lobby may be in order!

yes, please! i love a perfect cuff, and that one's darn near perfect. (we always make sure to stop by a hobby lobby during our midwest tours, too.)

I would never have thought to make one myself. It's absolutely lovely! Well done. :)

Wow. How adorable. Now, I'm going to have to take a trip to Goodwill for leather belts. You don't plan on posting a tutorial do you? If not, well, I can always hope my name gets picked in your drawing ... heehee.

What a gorgeous belt to have found to re-craft!

Your cuff turned out so cute... how crafty!
