a big day
The Habitat for Humanity Kansas City ReStore opened its second location this morning! Brian (my sweetie), Don and the gang have been working their tails off for quite awhile to get it ready, and it looks good. Really, really good. This location will be selling (and accepting) gently used furniture along with the usual building supplies and materials. Local friends- go check it out! It's in Waldo, on 79th Street, one block east of Wornall.
Breakfast this morning was catered by a gorgeous mother/daughter duo (ahem. my mom and me), and we stuck around to witness the crowd pouring in. It was exciting. I'm taking the kids over after school for the ribbon cutting ceremony and so they can give their daddy a giant hug. He deserves it. They all do.
Way to go, guys!

Cool!! I so wish we had a place like that around here. Our ReStore is tiny. Nothing like yours. Way to go Bri!

Go, Brian! It looks great. And furniture? Is your house now going to be redecorated with fun new-to-you stuff? :) You get first dibs right?

Hi Alicia! I'm enjoying your blog for the first time - I found you through a chain of blog rolls and I have to say that I'm glad I did! I've been enjoying your posts this evening.
I HAD to comment on this one because I sit on the ReStore Committee for our Flower City (Rochester, NY) Habitat for Humanity. I'm SO EXCITED that your guy had the pleasure and excitement of opening another store! HOW NEAT!
I look forward to continuing reading. And maybe sometime we can swap ReStore stories:) Happy 2011!
